The air is cooler.  Trees are starting to change.  Boots and a warm fire sound really nice.  It's fall! What things do you associate with fall?  What about it makes you happy?  What changes don't you like?  It's interesting to think about these questions and others as the seasons change - it's an opportunity to take stock! As we move into fall, life can seem to be overwhelming and crazy.  Events in the world (politics, weather!) can feel all consuming, especially when layered on top of work, kids going back to school, etc.  Take a few minutes for yourself this month to reflect on the seasons changing, the things in your life you’re grateful for and what you are looking forward to in the future.  We hope that includes the WOGA Holiday Party (see below)! Please join WOGA on July 18th for our Technical Luncheon - 'Birth to Death' of Unconventional Horizontal Wells: An Engineer's Story.  This topic will be presented by Dawn Lima, Production Engineering Manager with Bonanza Creek.  Dawn is a 20 year industry professional with proven leadership skills and a diverse technical background. Dawn’s experiences include domestic and international responsibilities in both unconventional and conventional reservoirs. Graduating in 1997 from the Royal Military College of Canada with a degree in Chemical and Materials Engineering, Dawn began her career in the Oil & Gas industry in Alberta Canada as a Field Engineer. Over the course of her career, Dawn held positions overseas in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and West Africa in a variety of technical and management roles. Please join WOGA on June 20th for our Geology Technical Luncheon with guest speaker Ben Burke, PhD. Dr. Burke is the geoscience manager at Fifth Creek Energy, a private-equity backed oil & gas operator in Denver, CO. He specializes at applying geologic and geochemical concepts to applied geoscience problems, including asset acquisition and divestiture, development planning, and production management. Ben Burke graduated magna cum laude from Bowdoin College with an AB in both geology and Russian language. Following two years at Woodard & Curran in Connecticut, where he was an environmental consultant, he pursued a PhD at Dartmouth College in geomorphology and inorganic geochemistry. Following Dartmouth graduation, he took a job with the ExxonMobil Upstream Companies as a petroleum geologist where he worked exploration, development, and production assets in Madagascar, Nigeria, and the Middle East from Houston.
